About Miro

Miro is a browser-based online whiteboard with desktop and mobile apps. Teams use it for workshops, research synthesis, journey maps, user flows, diagrams and planning boards.

Miro now markets the board as an "Intelligent Canvas" with AI built in. Miro AI includes Sidekicks (AI agents that work from board context), Flows (multi-step AI workflows), and generators for diagrams, mind maps, wireframes and prototypes. Paid plans include a monthly allowance of AI credits, and interactive prototypes are listed as a Business plan feature.

Miro also connects to a large set of other work tools and offers an MCP server for AI tools, with daily call limits set by plan.

Best for: Product and UX teams that run remote workshops and want one shared board for research, flows and planning across the whole company.

Strengths

  • Free plan allows unlimited boards, with the three most recent ones editable.
  • Covers sticky-note workshops, flowcharts, mind maps and basic wireframes on one canvas.
  • Built-in AI can generate diagrams, mind maps and prototypes from board content.
  • Apps for web, desktop and mobile.
  • Large template library and many integrations.

Limitations

  • Only three boards stay editable on the free plan.
  • AI use is capped by monthly credits per member.
  • Interactive prototypes and some admin features need the Business plan or higher.
  • Wireframing and prototyping are basic compared with a dedicated design tool.

Pricing

Free plan at $0 with three editable boards. Starter is $8 per member per month and Business is $20 per member per month (USD, billed yearly; monthly billing costs more), and Business has a 14-day free trial. Enterprise is custom-priced from 30 members. Checked October 2026.

When to pick something else

  • Mural: you want a facilitation-focused whiteboard with cheaper entry pricing
  • FigJam: your team already designs in Figma
  • Whimsical: you mainly need quick flowcharts, mind maps and wireframes
  • Lucidspark: you already use Lucidchart for diagrams

Checked against Miro’s own website in October 2026.

Miro is a user Flows tool for Web, Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. A paid plan costs about $96 a year, and there is a free plan. In our comparison it supports manual Flows, live Collaboration, mind Maps and hand Drawing. Auto Layout, Data Import, Auto Containers and UI Design are only partly supported. It does not offer dynamic Lines and auto Generate.
